The Society for Mathematical Psychology promotes the advancement and communication of research in mathematical psychology and related disciplines. Mathematical psychology is broadly defined to include work of a theoretical character that uses mathematical methods, formal logic, or computer simulation. The Society journal is the Journal of Mathematical Psychology.

The 44th Annual Meeting of the Society for Mathematical Psychology (SMP) will take place on the Medford, Massachusetts Campus of Tufts University, which is in the greater Boston area. The preconference meeting of women mathematical psychologists and the conference welcome reception will be held on July 15, 2011.  The conference will run three full days from July 16 to July 18 (no half days as in some previous years). There will be one plenary speaker for each day of the conference.  There will be both paper sessions and a poster session.  A prize is available for the best student poster related to cognitive science. On Tuesday July 19 there will be a full day workshop on the building, fitting, and interpreting of multinomial processing tree models from a diverse set of perspectives. The workshop will be taught by William Batchelder, Richard Chechile, and Xiangen Hu.

Registration for the workshop is separate from the registration for the conference but both can be done through the conference website. The Cognitive Science Society meeting begins on July 20 in nearby Boston. More information about the SMP meeting can be found through the link to the conference website: http://www.mathpsych.org/conferences/2011/.

The deadline for abstract submission is Monday, April 18th, 2011.
