Mathematical psychology is broadly defined to include work of a theoretical character that uses mathematical methods, formal logic, or computer simulation. The Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences at the KU Leuven-University of Leuven, Belgium, seeks motivated candidates to fill a postdoc position on the project â€œStatistical models for emotion dynamicsâ€ (PI and advisors: Eva Ceulemans, Francis Tuerlinckx and Peter Kuppens).
Project: The aim of the project is to develop, evaluate and apply statistical models for studying the Â patterns of emotional change that people experience in their daily lives, the processes that underlie such patterns, and, ultimately, how these patterns contribute to shaping their well-being or maladjustment. The delineation of the specific research topic within the broader research program of the Research Group will depend on several factors, including the expertise of the selected candidate.
Environment: The successful candidate will work in the Research Group of Quantitative Psychology and Individual Differences under the supervision of Eva Ceulemans, Francis Tuerlinckx and Peter Kuppens. The group offers an international, productive, collaborative, and interactive environment with about 6 faculty and 25 graduate and postdoc researchers. Leuven is one of the oldest university towns in Europe, about 30 km from Brussels. It has a rich history, culture and night life, and a unique friendly atmosphere.
Profile: The applicant hasn't lived or worked in Belgium for more than 2 years in the last 3 years. The applicant has a PhD which was not obtained in Belgium, preferably in statistical modeling of intensive longitudinal data or time series, a passion for research, a strong track record as evidenced by international scientific publications, and excellent English communication and writing skills. A background in research on emotion, well-being, and/or affect dynamics is an asset.

The postdoc position is offered for a one-year period, with the possibility of a one year extension. The start date is as soon as possible.
