Mathematical psychology is broadly defined to include work of a theoretical character that uses mathematical methods, formal logic, or computer simulation. Northrop Grumman Corporation is looking for a Behavioral Research Scientist to work with a team of researchers using large administrative data assets for studies of health and readiness among U.S. military service members. The research team conducts a variety of research studies and program evaluation efforts for the U.S. military, and works primarily within a data environment that houses a wealth of administrative, personnel, survey, and medical data (i.e., “big data”) on extremely large populations. Projects generally focus on resilience, health, and readiness among military service members, and include population-based studies, machine learning projects, measurement analysis, and pilot program evaluations.

The Behavioral Research Scientist will support several projects by managing and analyzing data from multiple datasets and sources. Candidates should have a PhD in Health Psychology, Medical Psychology, Social Psychology, Behavioral Medicine, Public Health or other relevant field.

Master’s level candidates with several years of experience will also be considered. Ideal candidates will have advanced expertise in health, behavioral medicine, behavioral health and working with large-scale or population-level datasets. Additionally, advanced analytic and statistics skills are preferred. Candidates must be able to work autonomously and enjoy collaboration with a team.
