The Department of Cognitive Science in the School of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in behavioral data science beginning Fall 2022.

Applicants must have a PhD, EdD, or foreign degree equivalent in Psychology, Cognitive Science, Neuroscience or a closely related field at the time of appointment. Applicants should have successful teaching experience at the collegiate level. Teaching responsibilities may include courses in behavioral data science, Bayesian data analysis, and research methods & statistics. The Department of Cognitive Science offers B.S. degrees in Psychological Science, Cognitive Science, and Philosophy and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Cognitive Science.

Candidates must have a strong theoretically-motivated program of research that complements the department’s existing strengths in cognition, perception, and/or action through the use of innovative techniques to analyze, model, and interpret behavioral data, neural data, and/or non-traditional datasets. The successful candidate is expected to develop an independent, externally-supported research program as well as to participate in interdisciplinary research across the university where behavioral data science is essential to advancing research.
